Well, wonder of wonders im home again following an injury. On the bright side the weather has followed me, I've found out when I get to uni I will qualify for Disabled students allowance to cover the cost of my glasses and the like and ive found a scheme that helps while you are in work too!
Access to work is a scheme that the DWP run that will help with the provision of special equipment to suit particular work needs arising from disability (that means irlen glasses ive already asked them) so please guys if you are in the UK give them a call on 028 9025 2228 they are really helpful guys.

Acorn, Wales, and glorious sunshine?
Well just over a week down in Wales now. Somehow I have managed to get sunburn even if the first few days were cold and very very wet.
The first week was mostly death by PowerPoint and I really can't praise these irlen glasses enough I even managed one of them multiple choice computer read tests I mean seriously wow what a difference.
So far this week I have been putting up tents, Learning to instruct on high ropes course, learning to instruct on the climbing wall. We have chalenge corse and hill walk training tomorow so i will let you know how it goes.

Wales, motorbikes and misc
Well, I am off to the Brecon beacons for the forseeable future, should be good fun.
Kendo last night was exelent such a good training session it feels genuinly refreshing now I am getting used to seeing with depth perception I can actually hit people again without messing my judgement of distance up all the time.
It is hard to believe it's only been just under a fortnight since I got these glasses they have totally changed my life. Somthing so simple that it was missed all these years, I am actually looking forward to going back to college I really can't wait.
Anyway off to the brecons while the good weather holds!

Wow!
Well, it has been an interesting couple of days. My lenses arrived and I finally managed to find a set of frames that work with them. They make such a difference driving at night I really can't explain it, all of a sudden i can read the motorway signs again when people have headlights on, and driving towards other vehicles that have their headlights on I can still see after I pass them, this is huge!
Had my first attempt at kendo since ive gotten the glasses tonight also, felt a bit unco-ordinated at first but that soon leveled off. The four Japanese Sensei who were visiting were all fascinated by my 'cool sunglasses' as were the staff in the Indian resteraunt, im sure the novalty of that comment will wear off eventually but for now it is bearable.
Speaking of the Indian resteraunt, awsome food, awsome atmosphere, and finally I can read the menu without too much hastle!! I really can't explain enough how much these glasses make a difference.

Counting the days
Had really quite a bad day today in many ways, woke with a migrane. Followed by long distances on the motorway, a job interview under flourescent lights, a powerpoint I was not prepared for at all, more distance driving on the motorway, then kendo practice.
Finally got home at 23:30 what a day, hopefully my lenses should be here next week I am really counting the days now, strange how you see the way you see for 22 years and you never think any different, then one day someone shows you how everything should look, and it is quite frustrating waiting... just waiting for some postman in america to get things moving again.
Still trying to find a pair of frames I like and that suit me, its not going well but fingers crossed on that count, anyway im off to slip into that deep wonderful pit that is a nights sleep well earned!

Intro
well hello thar, a little about my self then. I am 22 and have just been diagnosed with Irlen syndrome. My whole life I have had people throwing diagnosis after diagnosis at me but finally I have something that explains everything and after seeing a diagnostician last week and being able to see in 3d for the first time ever (I didn't even realise I had NO depth perception) I decided to bite the bullet and order my glasses.
In two more weeks they will arive, and hopefully they will make as big a difference as the layors did on their own.
Kendo was amazing tonight though, sparing I seemed to have my old self back almost, it makes me wonder how this new depth perception thing is going to affect that, well only one way to find out I suppose but hopefully it will make both my kendo and fencing better.
I will be going back to college in September and it is my plan to write this blog about what adult college life is like with Irlen and how the glasses help!
